Luke Axtell is a player-focused coach with proven expertise in skill development. He has helped lead hundreds of athletes to their highest potential in basketball, including players who achieved their dreams at the D1 and professional levels.
Luke was an All-State selection at Austin Westlake and went on to play at the University of Texas, then Kansas University. He was awarded several Big 12 Conference honors and was projected as an NBA draft pick before before being limited by injury. During his three years at Kansas, Luke was fortunate to compete and learn under the coaching great, Roy Williams. After playing professionally overseas, he graduated from UT with a degree in Education.
After college, Luke was the Head Men’s Basketball Coach at Hill Country Christian School of Austin before starting his own training program, Luke’s Hoops, in 2010. In the following years, he put together a staff of six coaches and twelve elite, select teams that traveled to some of the top tournaments in Texas, and the country. Luke values investing into the community, as he and his wife, Monica, and two kids, Ryder and Ashlynn, have lived in Dripping Springs for the past 9 years.
During his time on the court, Luke developed a reputation as a scoring threat. He brings an offensive mindset to his training, and can communicate the fundamentals necessary to give each player an advantage over the competition. Specializing in shooting mechanics, footwork, ball handling, and conditioning, Luke will help you develop into the most complete player achievable, and is very excited to join the Swift Sessions team.
